Rape case sucks in MP’s four aides

of raping a 15-year-old girl, have been arrested.
Ndambakuwa was arrested on Friday and is expected to appear in court for his initial remand today.
The four were reportedly picked on Saturday on allegations of obstructing the course of justice for allegedly intimidating people so that they do not co-operate with police during investigations.

Sources yesterday said the four were now assisting police with investigations and are held at Chinhoyi Criminal Investigation Department.
“Police are still seized with the task of determining appropriate charges to prefer against the four.

“It is a very delicate issue,” said the police source.
Ndambakuwa, who went for a medical examination with the girl at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital last Friday, is being charged with rape.

The results of the medical examinations could not be established at the time of going to print yesterday.
However, police sources said another girl came forward during investigations at the weekend to file a rape case against Ndambakuwa.

This was after police carried out assurance campaigns at Magunje growth point and surrounding areas.
The campaigns were aimed at encouraging those who could have been raped to come forward.

At least 10 other people are making the same allegations against Ndamba-kuwa, but are still to lodge formal complaints.
Charges against the legislator arose after a Magunje man who had allegedly caught him in a compromising position with his wife spilled the beans.

The MP is said to have assaulted the man after being confronted.
The MP and the girl went to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital for tests as per standard procedure.

The Police Victim Friendly Unit, which deals with rape cases, has also been roped in to look into the case.
Ndambakuwa was last year accused of impregnating a 17-year-old girl who went on to commit suicide.
