A WOMAN, who was allegedly raped by her husband’s brother some time in 2013, says she has been having unstoppable menstruation since the sexual attack.
The 29-year-old told H-Metro that the rape has been haunting her for years and this explains her decision to file a police report against her brother-in-law, Taurai Murebwa, of Damafalls.
“It is not easy to disclose rape,” she exclusively told H-Metro.
“My husband and his family members knew about it and they forced me not to disclose it.
“A family meeting was held, but nothing tangible came out of it, as some just wanted to compensate me.”
She added:
“I am in a serious situation because my menstruation was disturbed by the rape.
“I can have periods at any time, and this has also affected my marriage.
“My husband understands what his brother did to me, but the uncontrolled periods have disturbed him over the years.
“I have sought medical help, but nothing has worked.
“My rapist is walking free while I have no peace.” She said her husband had since taken a second wife.
She said Taurai raped her during a counselling session after she had had a misunderstanding with her husband over infidelity.
Contacted for comment, Taurai said he could not comment since the case was being handled by the police.
“I have nothing to say to you my brother since you have already published the story,” said Taurai.
“Above all, the case is with the police so you can call my lawyer for comment.”
