A BOGUS employment agent, who robbed and raped two women after luring them under the pretext that he had secured employment for them in Domboshava, has been sentenced to 35 years imprisonment.
Willard Kudakwashe Jonifati was convicted after a full trial by Harare regional magistrate Fadzai Mthombeni.
The State, led by Vimbiso Rundare, proved that on March 4, Jonifati lured the first complainant, who is 35, to Mverechena Business Centre in Domboshava, under the pretext that he had secured a job for her.
The complainant met Jonifati at the business centre at around 7pm.
He asked her to follow him, claiming he was leading her to the place where he had secured a job for her.
The complainant was taken to Mverechena Dam, which is in a bushy area, and Jonifati suddenly produced a knife and ordered the complainant to surrender her phone to him.
He went on to rape her twice and left her in that bushy area.
Jonifati then lured the second complainant to Molife turn-off in Domboshava, where he claimed he had secured a job for her.
As they got to the shops, he ordered her to hand over her belongings and she complied.
On their way home, Jonifati raped her three times.
The two later proceeded to Mungate Business Centre where the complainant screamed for help and Jonifati was arrested.
She managed to recover her phones and money.
