Rapist on the run

POLICE in Matabeleland South are hunting for a man who raped a 19-year-old in Maphisa, Matobo District woman while she was walking in a bushy area.

Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena said the incident occurred on Tuesday at around 6.30 PM.

“The complainant is from Chief Nyangazonke area in Maphisa area. This happened around 18:30 hours on the 9th of February. She was walking along a footpath in a bushy area near Stella mine. A man approached her from behind and raped her,” said Insp Mangena.

She said the suspect is still on the run and called on members of the public and guardians to protect women and girls by making sure that they do not walk alone in bushy areas as they risk rape.
