Rapist prophet on the run

A self-styled Harare prophet is in hiding after allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl who had gone to his house for treatment on Tuesday night.
The teenager was experiencing stomach pains and visited the prophet, only identified as Madzibaba Murenje, of Damofalls. Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tadius Chibanda yesterday said, “It occurred on Tuesday at the suspect’s home in Damofalls at around 10pm.” The prophet allegedly told the teenager she had consumed poisonous food and then proceeded to rape her once.

The matter was reported to the police but when cops visited Madzibaba Murenje’s house he had already disappeared.
Insp Chibanda said anyone with information on his whereabouts must report to the nearest police station.

Rapes cases are on a surge in Harare, with 667 such reports made in the past 10 months.
