UMGUZA MP Dr Obert Mpofu has decided to give a rare Christmas present to villagers in Ntabazinduna area by organising a free flight from Bulawayo to Harare for 10 lucky ones.“We all want to fly to Harare,” exclaimed one villager when the Dr Mpofu announced his proposal during a meeting with villagers in Ntabazinduna.

This was after the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development had said he would randomly pick only 10 villagers that will fly to the capital.

Dr Mpofu said he wanted the 10 villagers to experience a flight, which many were yearning for.
“I assume none of you has ever travelled in a plane and I will allow you to select from amongst you only 10 people that will fly to and from Harare. These will at least come back and share their experiences with you,” Dr Mpofu told an excited crowd.

At that moment one villager expressed the need to mix age groups in selecting those who would fly to Harare.
“Can I make it clear that both the young and the old have a desire to fly to some places so it is best to mix  the old and young people of which l am part of the old ones,” said the villager.

Another villager stunned the crowd when he suggested that old people were to be excluded from the list as they were going to get frightened when flying.

Finally the 10 were selected comprising a mixture of old and young, six old women, two youths and two elderly men.
Dr Mpofu selected more women saying they were the ones who usually take part in meetings and programmes conducted in the constituency.

The date for the trip is yet to be advised. During the occasion, Dr Mpofu said his ministry together with the Ministry of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment was keen to empower youths in the region in ensuring sustainable development.

“The Ministry of Youth will train young people and help them attain drivers’ licenses. We are yet to fulfil our promises as you have elected us into power,” Dr Mpofu said.
