Raza takes one wicket, Trinbago make it five out of five in Caribbean Premier League

ZIMBABWEAN all-rounder, Sikandar Raza picked up one wicket as his team, Trinbago Knight Riders recorded their fifth straight win in the Caribbean Premier League, with a seven-wicket triumph over Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain on Thursday, victory which saw them remain on top of the log.

Raza, an off-spin bowler opened the bowling with Pakistani seamer, Ali Khan. The Zimbabwean claimed the wicket of Guyana Amazon Warriors opener Brandon King who was bowled for six. Raza conceded 30 runs in four overs at an economy rate of 7.5 an over, with Guyana Amazon Warriors restricted to 112/7 in 20 overs. Man of the match, left arm spinner Khary Pierre took three for 18 in four overs.

Trinbago Knight Riders lost three wickets in their way to 115/3 in 18.2 overs to seal the win with 10 balls to spare, a conquest which saw them remain the only team yet to taste defeat in this year’s CPL. Wicket-keeper Tim Seifert of New Zealand top scored with an unbeaten 39 off 30 runs, an innings made up of four fours and one six.

Raza was not required to bat as he was down at number eight in the batting order. The Zimbabwean is yet to score any runs in the two matches he has played in the CPL.

Next up for Raza and his teammates is a clash with the Barbados Tridents on Saturday.
