ZIMBABWEAN all-rounder, Sikandar Raza has been shortlisted for International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup Player of the tournament with the announcement to be made today when the global showpiece comes to an end in Australia.

The in-from Raza will be up against the Indian duo of Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Pakistan pair of Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, England trio of Alex Hales Jos Buttler, Sam Curran and Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka.

At the tournament in which Zimbabwe made it to the Super 12 stage, Raza scored 219 runs in eight matches, with one half-century to his name. He took 10 wickets which included the 3/25 which came in a shock one wicket win against Pakistan. The Zimbabwean boasts the fifth most runs scored and the sixth highest individual score of 82 runs, the highest score by a Zimbabwean batsman at the T20 World Cup.

Sikandar Raza jumps for joy

In T20 World Cup which concludes today, the star has been no short of breaking records as well. After helping Zimbabwe book their place in the Super 12 after a win against Scotland, Raza broke Virat Kohli’s record of most T20 player of the match awards in a year with seven.

With 219 runs and 10 wickets in this World Cup, Raza became, after Australian great Shane Watson, the second player to ever score over 200 runs and take over 10 wickets at a World Cup. — Follow on Twitter @brandon_malvin
