CHICKEN Inn head coach Joey Antipas is coming to terms with the harsh reality of relegation after watching his side fall to title contenders Scottland FC at Barbourfields Stadium last Friday.
A solitary strike from Tymon Machope was all Scottland needed to secure maximum points against a struggling Chicken Inn side that now finds itself teetering closer to the drop zone.
“It’s unfortunate we lost again. We gave Scottland too much respect, especially with their galaxy of stars. With four games to go before the end of the campaign, all I can say is that the struggle continues,” said Antipas, the veteran coach who guided the Gamecocks to their only league title in 2015.
Next up, Chicken Inn travel to Gibbo Stadium to face a tricky Triangle United outfit in what promises to be another tense encounter.
“Every game we play is now like a cup final. Up next will be Triangle, and we have to go there and fight. We seriously need the points,” added Antipas.
The Gamecocks, who have blown hot and cold throughout the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, remain on 33 points. Their inconsistent run has done little to ease relegation fears as they stare at the bottom half of the log while the likes of Scottland, Simba Bhora, MWOS, and TelOne jostle for the title.
Chicken Inn can ill afford to drop points against the Sugar Boys this weekend. Another slip could tighten the noose in a survival matrix that also includes GreenFuel, Dynamos, Manica Diamonds, and Bikita Minerals.
At the foot of the table, Kwekwe United have already been relegated under coach Masimba Dinyero after becoming the first club to be chopped a few weeks ago. Their departure leaves three relegation spots as the season enters its decisive stretch.
