Hunt for Greatness
Milton Kamwendo
Life is a journey, stop playing small and feeding on myths. It takes a journey of renewal, constant rebooting to keep on the path to greatness. Keep checking where you are going and why you are going there. Time may seem to be moving and you might even be feeling that you are out of time. Do not get trapped into feeling that opportunity is lost because your flower took long to bloom. Do not even let your circumstances trap you and do not allow the roles you play to trap you.
Be unstoppable and do not expire in motion. Retiring to do nothing cannot be a vision. Refuse to plateau into life-less existence. Stop going to seed and keep bearing fruit. Keep learning, exploring and growing daily. Life teaches differently. You fall, you rise and you learn.
You start, you stumble and you rise and stay on course. You dream, it becomes a nightmare, but you wake up to pursue your bold vision. Keep unlearning, learning and re-learning. Look back, look within hand look to the future. Seek new dreams to dream and new challenges to pursue with gusto.
Things that stop others, should never be seen as a permanent box that clouds your judgement. Just keep moving, stretching every muscle.
Keep focused, learning from every possible source and growing. Double your energy and doubt your limitations, and redefine your boundaries and renew your game. Stop being limited by other people’s negativity. Challenge the limiting beliefs that haunt many. Refuse to live with fear and embrace faith. Whose negativity have you been sniffing?
Do not let time warp your thinking and dull your motivation. Cervantes Gives us a worthy example.
He struggled in his younger years and success seemed to elude him. His adult life was a losing struggle against debt, defeat and misfortune.
Perhaps military service would be different but alas. In the army he was injured in battle and was denied him the use of his left arm. That was not all, he was captured and be-came a prisoner of war for five long years. It was like hoping against hope. He seemed to be a made destined for a worthless life.
Cervantes later joined the civil service and held two government jobs. You can guess what happened next. He failed at both jobs and was just a mediocre worker. He was jailed several times. He was a delinquent. At 53 Cervantes was back in prison.
This seemed to be his fate. At any point in your life you can make a change and renew your life. In prison, with a history of non-achievement, he decided to write a book. Who would have thought that he would be an author. He responded to the spirit within and the dream dancing in his soul. The book by a non-achiever with no literary history.
Live your dreams and you will surprise yourself. The book written in prison by a man who seemed to be going nowhere after more than half a century of life tur-ned out to be one of the greatest ever written. The book entitled: Don Quixote has enthralled the world for ever 350 years and has been interpreted into many languages. Who could have guessed otherwise.
Stop wasting time living your fears instead of your dreams. You do not have the luxury to go stale and lose your fizz. Usually the biggest obstacles to overcome are the boxes in your head.
Some beliefs that have limited you all your life have outlived their usefulness. Some are outright unreasonable. Refuse to be bound to the fears of the past and negative conditioning of other people. What is going on in your head is more important than what is going on around you.
Live out of your vision and not your birth certificate. Your pace might be slower but do not stop walking. You may have to walk slowly but do not dare walk backwards. Renew your strength and commitment. Just keep walking, inspired by a noble vision, magnificent obsession and inspiring goals. Let your eyes look straight ahead.
Do not look back, because the past is not history. Do not look down, because the future it is ahead of you and beckoning. Wherever your focus goes, there your attention will go. When your focus is broken it is easier for your spirit to be broken. Whatever you desire keep focused on it and keep working to-wards it.
Take your life seriously. Just being you is a message of hope for someone. Take personal responsibility for your greatness. Do not be tempted to draw up a blame-list and life out a life of bitterness and negativity. There is no one to blame because everything is shaping up perfectly.
Take full responsibility for your life. Commit to doing whatever it takes. Whenever you blame anyone you give up and surrender the power to change.
Nothing really is impossible. The impossible is the undone. Do not let other people frame boundaries for you. They may set too low a ceiling and too small a space for your dreams to fit in.
Move out of your comfort zone and be willing to go where you have never been, and do what you have never done before. Greatness can take time, but then what doesn’t? Do not be disappointed when things do not happen as fast as you thought they would. Keep patiently working on your greatness. Stick to the knitting and keep running your race and stay the course.
Keep the things that you desire in focus. Do not be disappointed because things that you desire do not seem to be happening as fast as you wish. Keep interested in life, growing and moving forward. You do not have to outpace everyone, you just have to tap all your potential.
Keep interested in your growth and motivated to contribute and inspire others. Keep interested in your career, your vision and your goals. Keep developing yourself and upgrading your skills.
Past success is not a guarantee of future success. Keep a sharp edge by valuing skill and competence. Keep learning so that you can keep leading. Do not let disappointment tempt you to think that competence does not matter. Build your capacity and fortify your strong points. Keep building and strengthening your capacity. Be enthusiastic about developing yourself and improving your lot. Everyday become better than you were the last time.
Keep the sap of life.
There is no one who can be you, who can walk your journey or create your child. Be yourself and the best version of yourself that is possible.
This is what life and growth is about. Improve and work on yourself as a project. Address your weaknesses, fortify your strengths. Reflect on life often and seek to be authentic. Stop competing and start working on completing your mission. Bring your gifting and your flavour to the spaces you work and live in.
Make your mark and make a difference. Be fully alive and not one of the walking dead. Be yourself and believe in God who already believes in you.
The years past may have been unkind to you but you have not died yet. So, live and express life. Your spirit is stronger than your body.
Nurture your spiritual strength and feed your spirit, not just your body. Even if the chips are down, always remember that you are not out yet. You can rise one more time and survive one extra blow. Stand up tall when you are hardest hit. Do not let the past stop or delay you. Keep moving, growing and becoming better all the time. If you do not get better you run there risk of becoming bitter. Getting better means learning all the time from every-thing that comes your way.
Claim your space and your portion. The world will not give you what you need, but what you claim and declare. Express clear desires and goals. Enlarge your coast and strength your vision. Be assertive and focus on what you want and not what you do not want. Your words are creative and productive.
What you say is a suggestion of what you want to be real in your life. Let your words align with your desire and faith. Words are powerful and do not take them lightly or throw them carelessly.
Stop cursing and start blessing the day you were born and the people among whom you live. What you speak is what you are becoming. Renew your life and commitment to greatness. This is my message on my 50th Birthday. Thank you for walking the journey with me.
Committed to your greatness.
