Red flag raised over poor state of toilets in CBD

THE Passengers Association of Zimbabwe (PAZ) has again expressed concern over the poor state of public toilets in Harare’s CBD.

Most of the facilities are without running water, functioning washing basins and flushing systems due to poor maintenance and irregular cleaning.

As a result, users are opting to relieve themselves outside, and many public toilets have been closed.

PAZ has called for urgent rehabilitation of all public toilets and extended business hours to help commuters who struggle daily to find necessary facilities.

PAZ national coordinator, Tafadzwa Goliati, said public toilets have become health hazards

“We are not happy with the state of public toilets in Harare’s CBD. 

“This affects commuters who will be waiting for transport. 

“They are now a health hazard and council must rehabilitate all public toilets as a matter of urgency.

“They must also extend opening times of public toilets to help commuters waiting for transport, so that they do not end up relieving themselves in public places,” said Goliati.
