A MANCHESTER UNITED supporter group has pinpointed five urgent changes required to halt the club’s decay.

The 1958 staged a huge protest against the Glazers and Ineos ownership group outside Old Trafford before Michael Carrick’s side match with Fulham this afternoon.

The frontline of the protest was full of people in clown masks after branding Sir Jim Ratcliffe an “incompetent clown” in their announcement statement two weeks ago.

The 1958 have staged several demonstrations against the Glazer family, but this was the first march officially directed at Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

In a SunSport exclusive, organiser Steve Crompton branded Ineos “hopeless” and laid out five critical grievances that must be resolved to save the club from ruin.

Crompton said: “For me it’s all based around match-going fans. Another one is the culture needs bringing back.

“The Red Army is constantly getting pushed back to the point that the TRA is not even recognised anymore, which is shocking in itself.

“Matchday tickets need to be more affordable for matchgoing fans. If you go on the United website there are no tickets available for members but you can get hospitality seats starting at £300.

“For me it’s all about protecting fan culture, which sadly is slowly eradicating.

“The owners either need to change or they need to start listening.Ratcliffe and his merry band of men that got on board were quoted saying they would ‘put Manchester back in Manchester United’.

“But he has taken everything away. For matchgoing fans there is nothing.

“They also need to stop swapping and changing managers because it costs money and they expect supporters to foot that bill.

“It’s ridiculous.”Steve also told SunSport that the club needs to lay out a clear strategy to clear the debt. The 1958 aborted their planned protest for United’s season opener in August, acknowledging a rift among their 95,000 members —many of whom felt Ineos deserved more time.

But Crompton added:

“That time proved hopeless. I think we have gone backwards since Ratcliffe has got on board. Maybe too many cooks spoil the broth.”

Fans would at least have had something to cheer at full-time after United clinched a thrilling 3-2 victory thanks to Benjamin Sesko’s injury time winner.—Sun.
