THE municipality of Redcliff has started consulting various business people and residents to get input on how to improve service delivery in line with President Mnangagwa’s call for  local authorities to speedily develop a roadmap towards economic Vision 2030.

The President recently launched a local authority blueprint whose objective is to ensure that all local authorities in the country are working towards improving the livelihoods of the people they serve as the nation strains towards an upper-middle-class economy by 2030.

The blueprint is titled: “A call to action- no compromise to service delivery: First stage of interventions to modernise the operations of local authorities towards a 2030 Vision.”

In line with President Mnangagwa’s call to action, Redcliff Town Council led by Town Clerk Mr Gilson Chakauya last Wednesday toured several businesses in town and emphasised the need to complement Government efforts towards the successful attainment of Vision 2030.

“The President clarified that as local authorities, we should consult widely with the people we serve, taking into account all ideas that seem worthwhile. As council, we need to engage with everyone, including members of the business community,” said Mr Chakauya.

He noted that the small Midlands town was in the right direction towards its projected vision of attaining a world-class city status by the year 2025.

Local entrepreneur, Mr Madron Matiza of the Join Africa Business Network, said he was elated following the impromptu visit to his business premises in the town by the local authority officials.

“It is interesting to note that our local authority has swiftly responded to the clarion call that was made by the President on prioritising service delivery.

“As the business community, we are  eager to work together with council for the general good of our town and its people,” Mr Matiza said.

President Mnangagwa emphasised the need for local authorities to put their hands on the deck in the improvement of service delivery as the only sure way to improve the people’s lives.

He said a situation where water provision and refuse collection remained unattended to and breeding diseases was not acceptable.

He called on all local authorities to achieve acceptable service delivery levels and observe all applicable laws without failure.
