ZIMBABWE Referees Committee (ZRC) have mourned the tragic passing away of Highlanders chief executive officer and retired referee Sihlangu Dlodlo who was found dead at home Monday evening.
He was 60.
In a statement, committee secretary general and himself a decorated former referee, Tendai Bwanya, said Dlodlo, who at one time was a match commissioner coordinator in the Northern Region, had gone out of his way to look for sponsorship for referees.
He described him as a professional who shall be greatly missed.
“We are deeply gutted by the sad news of the passing on of Sihlangu Dlodlo, a professional, honest and jovial character. Rest in peace to a true friend and shining star.” “Your untimely passing leaves an unfillable void in our lives. Your cheerful spirit, willingness to help, and unwavering dedication inspired us all. Your selfless efforts to secure our sponsorship for referees will never be forgotten,” said Bwanya.
He said Dlodlo’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched as Northern Region match commissioner Coordinator and other posts assigned to him.
“You will be deeply missed, but your memory will continue to motivate us to carry on our integrity forward. Our heartfelt condolences to Dlodlo family, Highlanders Football Club, referees fraternity and loved ones,” said Bwanya.
Dlodlo was found at his Nketa 9 house after not being seen since Saturday afternoon when he participated at a brief function at Highlanders Club House.
Club secretary Morgan Dube said he last communicated with Dlodlo via a WhatsApp message at 2155 hours on Saturday night.
