CHINHOYI residents have hailed the local municipal authority for refurbishing the Gadzema Science and Community hall.
Before the renovations, the hall was in a dilapidated state
Land developer, Kainos Gwazeni, told H-Metro this was a sign of progress in their community.
“The refurbishment of the facility is a true reflection of prioritising quality service delivery to the residents,” said Gwazeni.
“Residents need to have a sense of ownership of the facility as it will go a long way in serving them.”
George Mkandawire told H-Metro it was a great step in the right direction for the local authority to refurbish the community hall.
“I am happy that Council finally spruced up the hall’s image as it resembled a white elephant before the renovations.
“I hope and pray that our Council will put it to good use,” said Mkandawire.
Cynthia Mutekede urged the Council to empower women.
“I want to appeal to Council to prioritise empowering women to do their projects as a way of growth and development of the town,” said Mutekede.
She urged the local authority to also renovate Chinhoyi Hall, which is in a sorry state.
Abigail Chirau, of Gadzema, said:
“There are a lot of young women who did courses in cookery, dressmaking and baking, but have no place to start their projects.
“So, its imperative for Council to prioritise them.”
Mayor Owen Charuza said:
“We will house the MP and Senator’s offices there for continued use of the facility.”
