Norton Town Council says there is an improvement in refuse collection after its refuse trucks returned to service.

In his report at the 306th Ordinary Council meeting this week, Town Secretary Mr Kizito Muhomba said the town had been facing challenges with refuse collection in the past few months.

“All our equipment is up and running. So I think you have seen an improvement in the collection of refuse and there are no complaints,” he said.

Mr Muhomba said the council managed to recruit drivers for refuse compactors.

“We were assisted by VID to carry out the interviews and test the drivers. We are satisfied that those who made it are the right people for the job,” he said.

Mr Muhomba said the council has since managed to resuscitate the supply of water at Utano Clinic through the its system.

“So at the moment the clinic is receiving water while we are also working on the procurement of the items required to repair the boreholes,” he said.
