Reggae artist pens Independence Day song

BULAWAYO-based reggae artist, Centre Party, released his much-awaited Independence themed song titled “Happy Birthday Zimbabwe”.

As the nation celebrates 43 years of independence today, the reggae musician said the song calls on every Zimbabwean to unite.

The song was produced by Wisdom Records and Play-on Studios.

Speaking to H-Metro, Centre Party said his message is to wish the motherland a happy Independence Day.

“The first verse on the song talks about Zimbabwe’s children gone and alive.

“The song wishes all the best to Zimbabwe and its citizenry. The sun should forever shine on Zimbabwe together with the rains blessing it.

‘‘It also greatly emphasises on its natural resources to belong to its people.

“The second verse talks about our land being rich with all sorts of minerals and blessed with the Big Five, but our greatest riches as a people is unity,” he said.

The reggae artist, who started his music journey in 2012, boasts of other popular songs such as ‘‘Shumba Dzacho’’, ‘‘Mando yePamusoro’’ which has a video that dominated charts in Jamaica in 2013.

Other hits comprise ‘‘Havagutsikane’’ featuring Umsindo All Stars which was in the Power FM charts in 2015-2016

Locally, he has done collaborations with Sani Makhalima, Mzimba, Maskiri, Sniperand Tererai Mugwadi, among others.

He has worked with Chillspot records, JMP, Jusa Dementor, Oskid and many other producers locally

Centre Party also performed live with international artists like Sizzla, Cocoa Tea, Turbulence and Busy Signal when they visited Zimbabwe.
