THE Bulawayo business community has been invited to a networking meeting at a city hotel tomorrow evening as preparations for the 2014 Africa Union Sport Council (AUSC) Region Five Games continue to gather momentum.Kennedy Ndebele, the marketing director for the local organising committee last night said invitations had been sent to both formal and informal traders. Community leaders he said had also been invited.
“We are inviting business corporates, small and medium enterprises, informal traders and community leaders to a business networking meeting,” said Ndebele.
The theme of the meeting is “Unveiling Business and Partnership Opportunities in hosting the Africa Union Sport Council Region 5 Under-20 Youth Games, to be hosted by Bulawayo from December 4-15, 2014.
Ndebele called on the business community to take advantage of the city’s hosting of the games.
“It is important for the Bulawayo community to take advantage of hosting the AUSC Region 5 Youth Games, as we expect 15 countries to bring 1,500 athletes to compete in different sporting disciplines” he said.
Work on an all-weather track at White City Stadium has started.
At the City Pool a practice pool is under construction while renovations at the proposed Games Village, Hillside Teachers’ College will benefit generations of students for years to come.
Barbourfields and Luveve stadiums, will undergo a facelift to improve facilities.
