Register to vote, Zaka folk told

Zanu-PF supporters in Zaka District have been urged to take advantage of the extension of the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) exercise by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to register ahead of this year’s harmonised elections.

The mop-up exercise is designed to give an opportunity to prospective voters that failed to register during the initial registration blitz. While addressing Zanu-PF supporters in his constituency last week, Zaka Central legislator Cde Paradzai Chakona said it was important to extend the life of the new political dispensation.

“We know that there are some people who failed to have their names in the new voters’ roll last year when the BVR exercise was in progress, owing to a number of reasons,” he said.

“Now that we are given another chance, let’s take this opportunity and go out in our numbers to register as voters. Those who have not registered should seriously take this chance.

“The only way we can make sure that Zanu-PF and its Presidential candidate Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa win the next elections is to register as voters, we must win the coming elections, but you must be a registered voter first.’’ Cde Chakona stressed that the only way to ensure that the new political dispensation was preserved was to vote for President Mnangagwa and the ruling party.

“The gains of Operation Restore Legacy can only be preserved if we vote for Zanu-PF, and our Presidential candidate Cde Mnangagwa, Zaka is a known Zanu-PF stronghold and we want a crushing victory for President Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF. We must win by very big margins and show our support to the new political leadership in Zimbabwe.’’ Cde Chakona donated rice and clothes to vulnerable groups in his constituency.
