The Registrar of Companies and Deeds has gone digital following adoption of an automated electronic system, a senior official has said.
Chief Registrar Mr Fidelis Maredza told The Herald that the automated electronic system would improve efficiency. “We adopted a digital system that is in line with the Public Financial Management System under the ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
“We shifted from the old manual system to match world class standards which will see improvements in our service delivery,” he said.
Mr Albert Chikati, the project manager, said this was in line with e-government as spearheaded by the Office of the President and Cabinet since 2011.
“We are implementing several modules but for now the financial module has gone live since Friday. Our intentions are to also implement a records management programme.
“Over the weekend we held a training workshop for our officers to familiarise themselves with the system’s features,” he said.
Mr Chikati said officers were acquainting themselves with the new technology and thus services would be initially slow.
E-government focuses on modernising Government systems and processes through use of ICTs. It enhances Government’s ability to provide services while reducing operating expenses.
