ZIFA have ordered the Premier Soccer League to rein in Dynamos over utterances that the club made about referees before and after the epic league match against Highlanders. Dynamos chairman Kenny Mubaiwa said before their match that Victoria Falls based referee Hardly Ndazi should not be allowed to officiate in their match against Bosso claiming the referee was always against them.
After the match, which was handled by a clearly overawed Thabani Bamala, DeMbare manager Richard Chihoro had a dig at Bamala and also claimed that had Zifa not acceded to their call to have another referee, his team was not going to get into the pitch.
Zifa vice president and Zimbabwe Referees Committee president Ndumiso Gumede said Zimbabwean football can not afford to have such a free for all behaviour hence the need for the said club to be brought into line.
“We certainly can not have that, tomorrow it will be Chicken Inn, next it will be How Mine and by the time it gets to Highlanders we will be having violence. PSL must rein in Dynamos because it is their baby, only then can we as Zifa act if nothing happens as per our expectations,” said the respected veteran administrator.
He said the utterances by Dynamos officials promoted anarchy in football.
PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele said he will have to engage Zifa to find out the way forward but were equally concerned.
“We had already issued a statement condemning such behaviour but since they are saying we need to rein in Dynamos, I now have to engage Zifa on that one for the necessary guidance,” said Ndebele.
In their statement issued on Wednesday, the PSL said they were concerned with acts of misconduct and violence during and after football matches.
“We would like to appeal to all club officials, coaches, team managers, fans and all our stakeholders to practise Fair Play. Fair Play means respect. Respect is part of our game.
