Government has launched several initiatives to mitigate the effects of the El Nino induced drought in Hurungwe East.
These initiatives include a borehole-drilling programme and food distribution, both designed to support the hardest-hit communities.

Hurungwe East legislator, Cde Chenjerai Kangausaru highlighted the importance of these initiatives.

“We have resuscitated the boreholes that had broken down. We also drilled new ones through the visionary leadership of President Mnangagwa,” he said, adding that various organisations are also collaborating with Government.

“Water is life, and we are trying our best to provide water so that people can have a better life.”

President Mnangagwa has reiterated that Government is committed to ensuring that no one dies of hunger.

This commitment is reflected in the various measures being implemented to secure food and water for communities affected by the drought.

The Government is also promoting small business units to support local economies and provide sustainable solutions for families in need.
