TODAY marks exactly a year since the death of musician Diva Mafunga in a road traffic accident.

His son, Tinashe, says the guidance and support which his late father gave him was priceless.

Tinashe has also ventured into music.

Diva Mafunga died in a road traffic accident on July 4 while on his way from a music gala where he had performed.

Tinashe is set to release an album on July 28.

Titled “Hondo”, the album is a dedication to his father’s legacy and it carries five tracks.

“As a child, I always wanted to follow my father’s footsteps.

“My dad was an artist known by many so, growing up seeing many individuals getting moved, or I would say people are getting inspired by his music and this made me start learning how to sing and make my own music.

“I started writing songs when I was 12 up to this age and this album is a dedication to my father, for his legacy to still be there,” he said.

Mafunga was one of the most influential gospel musicians in the country.

Some of his hit sings included “Endai Naizvozvo”, “Fambai Nekutenda”, “Pfuurirai Mberi” and “Ndicharamba Ndichidana.”

His love for music began in the ‘80s and, in 2019, he won the Legendary Award at the Permican Awards.
