Research council to host symposium

The symposium will be held in Harare from 13 to 14 February.

In an interview RCZ executive director Mrs Susan Muzite said preparations for the symposium were at an advanced stage.

“Our symposiums are a national event which aim to bring together scientists and academics from diverse socio economic backgrounds to network with government, industry and the private sector with the purpose of research promotion,” said Mrs Muzite.

She said the symposium would provide a platform for participants to examine different research findings on successes and shortcomings in countering climate change and achieving economic growth.

“The expo comes at a time researchers in various disciplines are acknowledging the fact that they are lagging behind especially in the area of climate change due to funding constraints,” she said.

She said traditionally during the event, researchers present papers on findings in various study areas including science, technology, innovation and development which will fall under the national priority areas.

“Research papers are used by the Government especially at policy planning and implementation stages,” said Mrs Muzite.

The first edition of the RCZ research symposium was held in 1988 and every two years after that.
