Residential flats for civil servants

Kiyapili Sibanda, Business Reporter
GOVERNMENT plans to construct residential flats for civil servants in selected towns including Bulawayo under its residential support scheme meant to address accommodation challenges.

The Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing has invited tenders for the proposed construction project.

The flats would be built at Marondera messengers’ camp, Mutare messengers’ camp and Mabutweni suburb in Bulawayo. The tender notice issued at the weekend indicates that there would be a site visit to the proposed places where construction would take place.

“Construction of walk up flats for civil servants residential support scheme will be at Marondera messengers’ camp and the site visit is on the 18 December 2017. At Mutare messengers camp site visit will be on the 19th of December and in Mabutweni messengers camp will be on the 20th of December 2017,” it said.

The notice also proposed installation of electrical services at a four storey H-Type flat in Chinhoyi, at Mabutweni Township in Bulawayo and at Senga Towship in Gweru.

The proposed construction of decent accommodation for civil servants is a bold

move by the Government to alleviate accommodation woes faced by its workers.
