The Voice of God
This is a continuation of the previous week’s article: “KEEP MOVING FORWARD” where we established the fact that God never promised us that the road will be easy, but He promised to deliver [Isaiah 43:2].
The people of Israel were good examples of people that started with joy and enthusiasm to leave Egypt according to the promises of God but later chose to remain slaves in Egypt than die in the wilderness as clearly stated in Exodus 14:10 [NLT].
“As Pharaoh approached, the people of Israel looked up and panicked when they saw the Egyptians overtaking them. They cried out to the LORD, 11 and they said to Moses, “Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt? 12 Didn’t we tell you this would happen while we were still in Egypt? We said, ‘Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the Egyptians. It is better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!'” 13 But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. 14 The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” 15 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! 16 Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground”.
The reason they chose to remain slaves is because they met resistance from two directions namely the Red sea in front of them and from Pharaoh and his army behind them.
Many people become discouraged when they meet resistance on the journey of life because they were not fully equipped for the journey in the first place.
We need to remember that our walk with God is a walk of faith and not by sight [2 Corinthians 5:7]. Therefore we need to completely put our faith in God as He is the only person that knows and leads the way. This will help us understand God’s processes so that we do not end up casualties in the wilderness.
There are key points to note when you are walking with God:
GOD MIGHT NOT SHOW YOU THE WAY UNTIL YOU START MOVING: You can see based on the reaction of the Israelites when they saw the Red sea and Pharaoh that they were not expecting that there would be a resistance.
Like I said before, God will not show the way or the resistance you will face on the way of destiny until you start moving. If God told Israel that Pharaoh would come after them and they would have to go through the wilderness for forty years and have to cross the Red sea, they would not have left Egypt in the first place.
The reason God hides things like these from us is because momentum starts immediately you take your first step. That momentum will help you to break down obstacles.
In the dreams God showed Joseph, He only revealed the period of him being the ruler and his family bowing to him but he never showed him that he would be sold as a slave, serve as a slave in Potiphar’s house, end up in prison for two years before he finally becomes the prime minister of Egypt.
If God showed him all that, I believe Joseph will refuse the dream and never share it. You might be facing a “wilderness” or a “Pharaoh” might be on your back but I pray that you do not give up.
The resistance you face is a proof that you are making progress. Everyone who took a step to leave Egypt got to meet the Red sea because you will only meet resistance when you start moving.
The enemy can only attempt to stop someone who is on the move in the right direction. The promise that God will fight for you is an assurance given to people on the move. Wake up and take a step of faith today, do not give up because you met an opposition.
There is nothing impossible with God. It doesn’t matter how slow your steps might be, please keep moving.
