Respect one another, artiste couples urged

another and keeping the marriage institution pure.
The call was made by the Minister of Media, Information and Publicity, Cde Webster Shamu, during the official launch of “Live”, an album by Tendai Manatsa and Selmor Mtukudzi held in Harare recently.
“This is the launch of one of the most disciplined young couples in the country. They (Tendai and Selmor) are a reflection of the backgrounds and families they come from.
‘They have a brighter future not only as musicians but also as a couple that is an epitome of our culture in Zimbabwe,” Minister Shamu said.
Minister Shamu said the music by Tendai and Selmor was a reflection of their desire to maintain their undying love for one another, something that married couples should strive to emulate.
He urged artiste couples to not just respect one another on stage but also take it into the home set-up and never allow the challenges they encounter in showbiz circles to separate them.
Zexie Manatsa, Energy Mutodi, Dino Mudondo, First Farai, music promoter Biggie Chinoperekwei and officials from Diamond Studios – who recorded Tendai and Selmor’s album “Live” among others – attended the launch.

“There is need for respect for one another not only when you are on stage but also in the home set-up. By listening to their music, I have noticed that Tendai and Selmor are celebrating the love they received from God and are praying for ever-lasting love, and this is the type of love they emulated from their parents, the Manatsas and Mtukudzis,” he said.
Minister Shamu’s sentiments were echoed by Amai Manatsa, Tendai’s mother, who said it was not easy for husband and wife to be in the same field and yet manage to make it together.
“It is not easy for husband and wife to play together. When both of them (Tendai and Selmor) are on stage, they show a high level of commitment not only to their art alone, but also for one another.
“When she (Selmor) is at home she goes back into her shoes, those of a daughter in law and she is content with that and I am so proud of that,” Mai Manatsa said.
