THE Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers has assured consumers that all retail and wholesale businesses across the country will remain open on July 31, urging the public to continue with their day-to-day shopping activities without disruption.
In a statement yesterday, CZR president Mr Denford Mutashu said supermarkets, wholesalers, pharmacies, service stations and other retail outlets would remain open for business as usual, while calling on retailers, suppliers, employees and consumers to uphold peace and reject actions that could disrupt trade.
Mr Mutashu said the retail and wholesale sector remained a critical pillar of Zimbabwe’s economy, supplying essential goods and services while supporting employment and industrial development.
“The Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers wishes to assure the nation that all retail and wholesale businesses across Zimbabwe will remain open and conduct business as usual on July 31, 2026,” he said.
“We encourage all members of the public to continue patronising their usual shopping centres, supermarkets, wholesalers, pharmacies, service stations and other retail outlets with confidence as they go about their normal day-to-day activities.”
He said the prevailing peace, security and macro-economic stability had created a conducive environment for businesses to operate, invest and serve consumers.
“The retail and wholesale sector remains a critical pillar of Zimbabwe’s economy, providing essential goods and services to millions of consumers while supporting employment, industrial growth and national development,” he said.
“The prevailing peace, security and macro-economic stability continue to provide the foundation upon which businesses can operate, invest and serve consumers with confidence.”
Mr Mutashu said the confederation recognised efforts aimed at promoting economic stability and maintaining a peaceful business environment.
He said the organisation also appreciated the work of law enforcement agencies in safeguarding law and order, saying this had enabled commerce to flourish across the country.
Mr Mutashu urged stakeholders in the retail value chain to safeguard peace and ensure uninterrupted business operations.
“We call upon all retailers, wholesalers, suppliers, employees and members of the public to uphold peace, exercise restraint and reject any actions that may disrupt business operations or undermine the country’s economic progress,” he said.
“Let us all play our part in preserving peace, protecting livelihoods and advancing Zimbabwe’s development aspirations.”
Mr Mutashu reaffirmed the confederation’s commitment to working with Government, law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted trade, strengthen consumer confidence and promote sustainable economic growth.
“Together, let us continue building a peaceful, prosperous and economically resilient Zimbabwe,” he said.
