THE ZANU PF Commissariat Department has registered over 63 000 new members this year, bringing cumulative recruitment since its 2021 launch to more than 295 000.
According to the Central Committee Report, the Commissariat Department’s Kumusha/Home/Ekhaya Recruitment Programme made significant progress, leveraging over 300 volunteer coordinators, mainly former opposition MPs, councillors and senior officials, to accelerate recruitment across 100 traditionally opposition-dominated urban and peri-urban constituencies covering 743 wards.
“Since the last Conference, the programme registered over 63 000 new members, bringing cumulative recruitment since its 2021 launch to more than 295 000,” read the report.
“This includes 55 former MPs, 16 former mayors and council chairpersons and over 100 former councillors.”
Zanu PF Political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha said during the year, 730 members received ideological training alongside local party structures, while others underwent brief orientation before assimilation.
The approach, Cde Machacha said, strengthened rapport between returning members and existing structures and reinforced party organisation in traditional opposition strongholds.
Turning to vetting of party affiliates, Cde Machacha said the Commissariat department, together with the department of National Security, has completed the vetting of party affiliates.
He highlighted that out of 252 applications received, 80 were recommended for approval.
However, Cde Machacha said this approval is based on a new formula premised on an affiliate’s contribution towards party growth as confirmed by their respective provinces.
He highlighted that the department remains committed to consolidating grassroots structures, completing the membership database, deepening mobilisation and maintaining a united, disciplined and responsive party.
