A REVENGE mission over a childhood grudge has landed five people in jail.

In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said on 5 April Tinashe Musambizi (18), Shelton Charamba (23), Takesure Chidzveta (22), Washington Maurukira (24) and Moses Madzivanyika (36) had a misunderstanding with the first complainant over a childhood grudge. They pummelled him with fists until they were restrained by the second complainant (uncle to the first complainant).

“They then turned on the second complainant and assaulted him using their fists and booted feet before they struck him with a broomstick. The second complainant managed to escape and sought refuge in a nearby bush where he collapsed as a result of the injuries”.

“Both counts were treated as one for the purposes of sentence. The accused persons were each sentenced to three years imprisonment of which six months were suspended. They will serve 2 years 6 months effectively,” said NPAZ
