How do you make constructive use of your recreational time, when all work and school work and business hustles are done? Well, a youth musical group, Soulfire Worship,  together with friends including Dr Caleb Juma  welcomed  the shift of lockdown conditions to Level Two, by hosting a worship event live at a local church in the CBD and shared some videos too of their concert.

Dubbed ‘Revival of a Generation’, and strictly adhering to all Covid-19 lockdown regulations of the new level,  the interdenominational concert brought together youths to just worship the Lord, encourage, support,  inspire  and learn from one another.

“After some venue scouting around the city, and we were so grateful when a church that meets in the CBD allowed us to have our revival event at their venue which is central and enabled some youths to attend under strict Covid-19 measures,” said a senior member of the group.

The purpose of the event was spiritual  revival, because youths hadn’t been able to meet and have such worship, “so we were grateful when we read of a more relaxed lockdown level”.

Another aspect of the programme was a preaching by Dr Juma and an alter call for the sick.

Soulfire founded about three   years ago as a worship group, also needed a ministry perspective,  to preach the gospel through performance. Apart from worship music, one will find such aspects as poetry, spoken word and young brilliant minds in the group which is also working on its debut EP.

One of the leaders Tinashe Zimuto kicked off the event by telling the people who and what SoulFire is along side the other two Worship leaders Bob Gumbo and Me Tjmo Rhodes.

Anyone from any church can join Soulfire Worship, where through a vibrant virtual interaction and sharing  of  gospel scriptures occurs on their various platforms, such as FB,Tik tok,WhatsApp Group.

On what to expect from the group in this 4th quarter, the spokesperson said without giving much away:

“We are going to be performing on 4Dec…” , hinting there could be more plans coming in the Christmas season as the spirit leads.

One of the group’s aims is growing the group and growing its members in terms of personal development. “While we are just starting out, still growing –  we are also constantly looking into how we can grow as members, and how much we need to grow our team of musicians and other performers. Here and there we will add a new member.

Soulfire Worship is a group of young people with dreams and aspirations of going global but starting with small steps on their various areas of gifting.

Meanwhile the group is proud of one of its members, Makomborero Sivangani, a science genius and CEO of African Einstein Labs, who was recently appointed the  “Africans in STEM Ambassador to Zimbabwe.

“Despise not humble beginnings,” scripture urges(add actual scripture). And so it is with Soul fire Worship. The best is yet to come.
