RHINOS OUT TO DO BIG BOYS A FAVOUR

Blessing Malinganiza

IT’S a measure of how Black Rhinos have found their feet again that the two-time champions carry the hopes of some of the league’s big boys to derail leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars.

Dynamos and Highlanders are in the championship race and would love to see Ngezi dropping points. The army side have been punching according to their weight, of late, after a poor start to the campaign.

They have even made it into the semi-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup after an impressive away win over Chicken Inn in Bulawayo.

Midfielder Nkosi Mhlanga says they can ride on their recent good form to derail Ngezi Platinum’s title charge while also enhancing their survival hopes.

The two clubs clash in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie at Baobab this afternoon.

The army side are currently second from the bottom of the table but go into the match on the back of successive wins in their last two assignments.

“It’s not going to be a stroll in the park but we are ready to work extra hard and save the day for ourselves.

“We have momentum as we are coming from two consecutive wins, which is a big boost for our confidence.

“Ngezi are on top of the log and it’s a reflection of how they have played the entire season but going into this match I feel we need the points more than them.

“I expect the match to be tough for both teams but we are hoping to cruise on that and collect maximum points as it is the only thing we really want as a team at the moment to save ourselves.”

He added:

“For us to survive relegation we only have one option, which is to win games and avoid dropping points at all given opportunities.

“Our play has improved a lot and recently we are enjoying a fine run.

“We would want to carry on like that.

“Of late, we have been creating chances so we have to make sure we convert and we can fancy ourselves to collect maximum points.”
