The army side is enjoying a six-point lead over second placed Mufakose Queens but fourth-placed Inline Academy, who are also in the race, still have three games in hand and are 10 points behind the leaders.
Should they win all their outstanding games, Inline Academy will be a point shy of leaders Rhinos.
Yesterday, Rhinos’ coach Thomas Chinyan’anya said the backlog gave an unfair advantage to all the title-chasing teams.
“It is worrying that while some teams are fulfilling their matches, some teams continue to have games in hand.
“We understand that the match between Mufakose Queens and Inline Academy was not played just because one team wanted to have the game on Saturday and the other on Sunday.
“People involved in the running of the league should look into all the matters closely because we cannot continue playing matches.
“We don’t want to have an unfair advantage or any other team, we really want the playing field to be even and the best team should win the league come year end.
“It is unfortunate that we couldn’t tell the league’s bosses some of our concerns when they came with the Fifa people to watch our match,” said Chinyan’anya.
Black Rhinos hammered basement side Faith Drive 8-0 at HQ 2 Brigade on Saturday.
Mighty Warriors’ striker Kuda Basopo scored all four goals while Shupi Juwawo grabbed a brace.
Rutendo Makore and Portia Chihota weighed in with a goal each.
The match was also watched by the Fifa instructors Jacqui Shipanga and Chris Bongo, who were in the capital last week conducting a seminar on women’s football.
Women’s Soccer league boss Mavis Gumbo also took the opportunity to donate balls to the army side and the Mutare-based side Faith Drive after the match.
New Orleans eased into third place when they edged Chipembere 1-0 away in Gweru while Cyclone Queens got the better of Flame Lily by beating them 3-2 in their backyard.
Cyclone Queens’ captain Tsitsi Mairosi scored a brace while Joyline Masango added the third goal.
Cosa Guruve, who were at the end of a 6-0 drubbing by Mufakose Queens last weekend, bounced back to winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Masvingo Queens.
The team, which is based at Mudhindo Township, has been playing good football with their key player Locadia Mugavazi a revelation.
