THERE was a time when Rhumba Nights were quite popular in Harare.
Then, things changed, and these nights disappeared from the capital’s entertainment scene.
Now, efforts are underway to revive the Rhumba Nights.
To get things going, talented rhumba outfit, Bana Des As, will headline a Rhumba Night every Friday at the uptown Pyramid Restaurant and Bar in the capital.
The Rhumba Night, which will see different groups also entertaining fans, is set to be launched with a special show on Friday.
The slot is expected to come as a relief to rhumba fans who have been starved due to the genre’s limited shows.
Bana Des As are one of the consistent performers of the foreign beat that rocked the local entertainment industry some years ago, and they are ready to get fans going down memory lane.

The Rhumba Nights are meant to serve fans of the genre since activities around the beat have been declining.
“We have mature clients and we saw it fit to have Rhumba Nights every Friday headlined by the outstanding Bana Des As,” said an entertainment manager at Pyramid Restaurant.
“Rhumba Nights are popular and the good thing is they unite people from different backgrounds.
“So, we are urging fans to come in for this experience as we seek to make sure that we become the best destination for leisure.
“As you know, good food goes along with good music, so we have various dishes available for everyone who is going to grace our rhumba nights and we are located in Eastlea at Mc Chlerry Avenue.”
Apart from Rhumba Nights, the entertainment and eating hub will also be offering different events, starting with Ladies Night and Karaoke on Thursdays.
Top disc jockeys and emcees will be on rotation to entertain fans while Marasta Sundays will cap a busy entertainment week.
