UNITED States rapper and music executive, William Leonard Roberts II, known professionally as Rick Ross, and Nigerian singer and superstar Omah Stanley Didia, affectionately known as Omah Lay, are expected to jet into the country on Friday afternoon ahead of the much-publicised show, “Hustle and Heritage”.

The two will share the stage with local top acts who include Feli Nandi, Freeman, EXQ, Takura, Shashl, Tamy Moyo and Saintfloew among others at Rainbow Towers.

The arrival has turned anticipation into frenzy, with fans, media and industry insiders eagerly awaiting the two global acts’ return to Zimbabwe.

The presence of Rick Ross, the American hip-hop heavyweight, and Omah Lay, the Afrobeat sensation, transforms the event from a local music showcase into an international spectacle.

Both artistes have previously performed in Zimbabwe to rapturous crowds, and their return marks a highly anticipated reunion with their Zimbabwean fan base.

In an interview with Zimpapers Entertainment Hub, one of the organisers Dru Edmund Kucherera said preparations are at an advanced stage, with the international artistes confirming their participation.

“Having Rick Ross and Oma Lay back in Zimbabwe is monumental,” said Kucherera.

“Their arrival is the signal that Hustle and Heritage is more than a concert but it’s a cultural moment.”

“Preparations for the event have been in full swing for weeks. Stages have been erected, sound and lighting systems tested, and security measures put in place to ensure a seamless experience for attendees,” he explained.

According to arts authorities, the line-up itself has already sparked excitement.

Local acts, including top Zim Hip-Hop and afrobeat stars, are slated to perform, giving audiences a taste of Zimbabwe’s vibrant music scene. International acts are headlining the event, with Rick Ross and Omah Lay commanding particular attention.

Rick Ross has previously visited Zimbabwe and left a strong impression on fans, while Oma Lay’s afrobeat hits have built a loyal following across the continent. This return leg marks their continued connection to the Zimbabwean audience and promises a high-energy performance that fans are eagerly anticipating.

Fans and locals have taken to social media to share their anticipation. Many are making plans to attend early to get prime viewing spots and capture moments with their favourite stars.

“We’ve been waiting for an event like this. Having Rick Ross and Omalay back in Zimbabwe is huge,” said Tinashe Chibanda, a local music enthusiast. “It’s not just the music, it’s the vibe, the culture, the whole experience.”

According to Kucherera, this iteration of Hustle and Heritage has been designed to reflect both global and local perspectives.

While international acts headline the show, a strong roster of Zimbabwean performers ensures that local talent is celebrated on equal footing. From Afro-fusion to hip-hop, dancehall, and rhythm and blues, the musical offerings are as diverse as they are electrifying.

Their prior visits to Zimbabwe have been well received, with previous performances drawing large crowds and extensive media coverage. Their return is expected to not only draw in long-time fans but also introduce their music to a new generation of Zimbabwean listeners.

“This show is about connection,” Kucherera explained. “Bringing global and local artistes together allows us to show-case Zimbabwe as a hub for entertainment and culture. Rick Ross and Omah Lay returning for this show is a testament to the growth and vibrancy of our music scene.”

Many fans are travelling from outside Harare to be part of the event, underlining the show’s national appeal.

Behind the scenes, production teams have been working tirelessly to ensure that everything runs smoothly. From stage construction and lighting design to sound checks and logistics, the focus has been on delivering a polished and professional experience.

As the countdown to Saturday continues, anticipation continues to mount.

Social media feeds are filled with excitement, and conversations across the city are dominated by predictions, play-lists, and shout-outs to favourite performers. Fans are not only excited about the music but also about the cultural celebration the event represents, a merging of heritage, hustle, and global recognition.

With Rick Ross and Omah Lay returning to Zimbabwe, a dynamic local line-up ready to take the stage, and meticulous preparation ensuring a world-class experience, Hustle and Heritage is shaping up to be one of the most memorable events of the year.
