Riddim to combat drug abuse

A producer from Mbare, has created a riddim called Guka Ndabuka to raise awareness against drug and substance abuse.

Blasio Machingura (27) recognised the negative impact drugs have on the lives and aspirations of young people and turned to music as a powerful tool to engage them and spread the message of drug awareness.

Blasio collaborated with artists from diverse backgrounds to showcase the talent present in individuals who may not have had the same level of support or opportunities.

He encouraged all artists to stay away from drugs, which he believes weaken them and become highly addictive, hindering their ability to pursue their dreams.

“I saw music as a weapon to keep youths occupied and prevent them from wasting time.

“I wanted the riddim to serve as a medium for them to share the message of drug awareness with their fellow youths.

“Music is something that the overwhelming majority of people in the world cannot escape. It has the power to reach deep within our hearts and souls. I believe it is one of the most effective ways to convey important messages.

“Other local upcoming artists have also started to come and record using the riddim and I have undercharged it to cater for those from poor backgrounds.

“I encourage all artists to stay away from drugs as this will weaken you along the way and become highly addictive, hindering your ability to pursue your dreams,” said Blasio.
