The 23-year-old tweeted a heartfelt message early Sunday morning after his former girlfriend’s grandmother passed away. “Praying for family and the lost loved one. She was like my grandmother. Love you GRAN GRAN! RIP,” the Daily Mail quoted him as tweeting.
The pair had split after he physically assaulted her just before the Grammy Awards.
The duo have reportedly gotten back together and split up several times since then.
But one thing is clear that Brown still has an emotional connection to Rihanna.
The 24-year-old’s grandmother Clara Dolly Brathwaite died this week.
A short time later, Rihanna took to Twitter to reveal the sad news.
“Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you,” she wrote.
It was only two weeks ago that she had posted intimate photos of her spending time with her sick grandmother on the social network site.
The Umbrella hitmaker had then proceeded to post a number of sweet and personal photos of herself with her grandmother over the years.
Her relative, who her family affectionately called Gran Gran Dolly, died on Saturday following a battle with cancer.
