LONDON. — Rio Ferdinand has urged Arsenal’s players to stop posting celebratory selfies on social media after winning games.
The Gunners hammered Chelsea on Saturday evening, with goals from Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil sealing a 3-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium.
But after the game, Ozil posted a picture celebrating the result alongside Granit Xhaka, Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi on Instagram.
But Ferdinand has warned that opponents will start using these pictures as motivation for when they play Arsenal.
“Unless you’re winning … that gives everyone else ammunition,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“You don’t even have to have a team talk. I’d put that (the picture) up in the changing room next time I play Arsenal.
“I know for a fact there will be players around the country going ‘do you see them lot, they’ve only won one game’. I’d shut that down (if I were a manager).”
Meanwhile Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said he was hungrier than ever for success after his side marked the 20th anniversary of his appointment by stylishly defeating Chelsea 3-0.
