Road accident claims two

Two people died while one was seriously injured after their car collided with a haulage truck at the 62km peg along the Harare-Mutare road on Tuesday.

Mashonaland East police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachii confirmed the accident.

“The ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident at 62 km-peg along Harare-Mutare Road on 6 September 2022 at around 5 pm.

“Wiston Chirozvi (44), a male adult driving a Toyota Hilux single cab with two passengers on board, upon approaching the 62 km peg tried to overtake a Honda Fit in front of an oncoming haulage truck and the vehicles collided head-on,” he said.

“The driver and passenger who were travelling in Toyota Hilux were pronounced dead upon admission at Marondera Provincial Hospital while the other passenger was seriously injured,” said Insp Chazovachii.
