NEW: Robber escapes with US$30 000

Police are investigating a case of armed robbery where a suspect attacked a Waterfalls house on Sunday before escaping with US$30 000 cash and other valuables.

In a statement on Monday, the Zimbabwe Republic Police said the suspect first attempted to rape the housemaid.

“A suspect, who was armed with an unidentified pistol, pounced at the complainant’s house, where he attempted to rape the maid before stealing US$30 000 cash, two laptops, two cell phones and a safe containing title deeds, educational certificates as well as Toyota Fortuner vehicle keys,” reads the statement.
