AN armed robber, who broke into a family home and raped their maid, was spotted at a bar and was arrested a day after the robbery.
David Sinaro, 40, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa yesterday.
The court heard that on February 28, Sinaro broke into the two complainants’ home where they were sleeping in two separate rooms.
Sinaro was armed with an axe and a machete and gained entry into the house through the lounge door.
He threatened to kill the complainants and demanded cash and valuables.
He tied both the complainants on the legs, hands and forced them to lie down on their stomach.
He took cash amounting to US$710 and took the maid to her bedroom where he forced her to lie down on the bed and raped her.
Sinaro was identified the next day at a bottle store in Rainham, leading to his arrest.
