ROBBERS attacked a Methodist Church priest on Sunday and stole his priestly gowns, cash and cellphones.
The incident happened in Budiriro.
Norman Mbwizhu, 32, of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, which is located along Coronation Road in Greendale, was forced to surrender all his possessions by three robbers who had offered him transport.
Mbwizhu had visited Budiriro and was returning home at around 1930hrs when he boarded a Toyota Auris intending to go into the Harare CBD.
The driver was alone and he occupied the back seat.
A few metres down the road, the driver picked two other men, who joined Mbwizhu in the back seat, using different doors, to trap the priest.
At the High Glen roundabout, the driver stopped and the other two passengers produced a sharp object and pointed it to Mbwizhu demanding all his possessions.
They took his bag, which had his church gowns, searched his pockets, and took a Huawei P20 cellphone, a Samsung tablet, a wallet and cash amounting to US$366. Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.
“Police are investigating a robbery case where a church priest lost his belongings in Budiriro.
“He had been offered transport.
“The accused persons dumped the complainant at GMB Aspindale and drove off.
“The complainant lost a total of US$536 and nothing was recovered,” said Insp Chakanza.
