Robbers pounce on another gold mine

The robbers were however tracked down by armed police, resulting in the arrest of two suspects while the other 13 escaped and are still at large.

Mr Mabasa Chichaya, a director at the mine, confirmed the incident yesterday. “It was around 2am when I received a call from one of my workers that 15 intruders armed with all sorts of weapons descended on the mine and ordered the workers to stop their mining activities.”

He said the workers tried to resist the robbers but eventually fled the scene while the thieves loaded the ore into their truck and disappeared.
Police also recovered the truck and the ore.
