TWO robbers pounced on Wakefield Lodges in Chicago, Kwekwe, attacked the waitress on duty and got away with US$115.
Josephine Shekede was attacked on Thursday night by two men, who pretended to be potential customers, who were looking for accommodation.
Acting Midlands police provincial spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Fungai Ngawagare, confirmed the incident.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms investigating a robbery case in which robbers got away with US$115 , two cellphones and a WIFI router from Shekede, an employee of Wakefield Lodges.
“It is alleged that on the 24th day of November at around 7pm, the complainant was on duty when the two accused persons approached her pretending they needed overnight accommodation.
“While attending to the suspects, suddenly one of them pulled out an unidentified object and threatened the complainant, and demanded money and all her valuables.
“The complainant went to her room and took cash amounting to US$115, a G-tel Infinity cellphone, an Itel cellphone and handed them to the accused persons.
“The accused persons further took a WIFI router and a remote controller from the unmanned guard room and went away.”
Police have appealed to members of the public to assist them with information that can lead to the arrest of the robbers.
