Robbery gang member nabbed

Police in Penhalonga have arrested a suspect who was allegedly part of a three-member gang that robbed and assaulted a 41-year-old woman and her 10-year-old child.

Ashley Bangano (18) appeared before Mutare magistrate Mrs Sekai Chiundura facing robbery charges. He however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was remanded in custody to today.

Prosecutor Mr Cuthbert Bhosha told the court that on January 4 , 2018, Bangano and his friends met the complainant and her son at a bus stop near St Augustine’s Mission and offered to walk with them since it was getting dark.

On their way, Bangano allegedly grabbed the victim’s neck and ordered her to surrender her handbag.
