LIVERPOOL. — Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has defended Steven Gerrard, claiming he remains a “brilliant player”. Gerrard was disappointing in Liverpool’s defeat at West Ham on Saturday and, at 34, his critics say he may finally be on the wane.
