FORMER Dynamos, Highlanders, CAPS United and Celtic striker Rodrick Mutuma has hailed Scott Sakupwanya for the support in his fight against drug and substance abuse.
Mutuma is part of Norton Big Boys football club, a ZIFA Mashonaland West Division Two side being supported by the legislator.
He was speaking after the team managed to get the better of Shepherd Reef 4-2, with Oscar Machapa getting a brace while Evans Gwekwerere and Takesure Chinyama got a goal each.
Norton Big Boys is home to many notable former professional players and are doing well leading the race.
Some of the players include Tafadzwa Rusike, Luckson Kaisa and Chinyama among others.
Mutuma, who is battling drug and substance abuse, says this a project playing a big role.
“We are grateful to what Sakupwanya is doing for former players as he is helping us to cushion the gap between retirement and life after football,” said Mutuma.
“We have an ambitious project in Norton Big Boys and Sakupwanya has been so helpful though out in encouraging players to stay away from drug and substance abuse.
“As a former victim of drug abuse I am happy with the support I am getting.”
Mutuma, a victim of drug use, believes he is on the recovery.
Norton Big Boys are very ambitious and are currently unbeaten in the league as they aim for promotion.
