ROKI’S CAMP DEFENDS MASS PRODUCTION

Edwin Nhukarume

ROKI’s handler, Boss Lashan, says the artist has written so many songs it will take about four years to release all of them.

He believes the current mass production by their camp is important to keep the artist relevant.

Roki has been releasing one track after the other, within a short space of time.

Boss Lashan said Roki had to catch up with the music industry and expand his catalogue.

“It’s been a while, Roki disappeared from the music scene.

“He made a comeback last year. And, we need to make more music so that he can have more songs to offer fans at the gigs.

“We need him to have shows where he can perform, at least, two hours.

“His catalogue needs to grow since most of his songs are from yesteryear.”

Boss Lashan said they disadvantage Roki if they don’t release the songs he has been working on.

He also hinted at Roki’s collaboration with the South African superstar Master KG.

“We are actually delaying him because Roki has got a lot of songs still to be released.

“He has been working very hard. We have realised that to release all his songs it could take three to four years.

“He is an artist who is making use of the platform he got.

“He also has two or three songs that he will release soon.

“He did a song with a big artist from Malawi and he also has a project with Master KG.

“Music lovers should expect a lot from him,” said Boss Lashan.

He said  Roki was getting positive feedback from fans around Africa since they are releasing quality and entertaining productions.

“Although he is releasing a lot of songs,  Roki has been releasing quality songs.

“We are working with high quality producers producing quality productions.

“We are getting positive feedback from many people, including those around Africa,” he said.

Roki started his musical career at the turn of the millennium as an Urban Groover.

He made several hits, including Chidzoka, Aiyaho and many collaborations that were popular during the Urban Grooves era.

Recently, he made a major comeback with a collaboration with Koffi Olomide, and he has been releasing a lot of songs under Passion Java Records.
