reason why we have our present and the givers of direction for the future. On the other hand the youths need to understand that life is not just a series of calculations and a sum total of statistics.
It is about experience and sacrifice. It is something more complex and more interesting than what is obvious; it’s about participation, contribution and making a difference. The youth are the drivers and movers of the aspirations, desires, hopes and dreams of a society far beyond their expectations and imaginations.
The youths are like a fire, it creeps forward a spark at first, growing into a flame, then “boom” it brightens into a blaze. Their sole responsibility is to ensure that the common goals of a society and a nation are driven home and realised for the benefit of all.
The youths never expect things to just happen but they take it upon themselves to create the world they want to see even if it means to endure struggle, pain and isolation until they make it happen.
The true sons of a country are seen not by what they require but by the extent to which they are willing to offer service.
They never expect to be given a good value but they seek to create a value of their own. Young people have the energy to try out things and the patience to learn from mistakes, have an eye for opportunities and inventions and use their time to plan and work in preparation of even harsher realities in life. Youths like all successful people are big dreamers.
They imagine what the future of their country can be ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that common goal or purpose. The existence of courage, love, friendship, compassion and empathy within us do lift us above the simple beasts and define humanity.
These qualities push us to dream more, think high, choose best, analyse twice, plan perfect, be confident, work hard and execute our goals well so the humanity we are fighting for can survive. This is what youth is all about and this is what it should represent in our nation.
History has proven it in so many scenarios that it is the fathers who carry the vision but it is the youths who drive, protect and keep it alive. We have seen violence erupting, massacres taking place,
civil wars, unlawful demonstrations, remonstrations etc taking place where this order has been violated in the world. Young people of this country need to come to a realisation that they have too much power at their disposal which needs to be channelled in the right direction in line with the common vision of this country.
There has to be an understanding among the youths of our country that as a nation we have a common vision, goal and an understanding. This can only be realised when we work together and not succumb to external pressures whose goal is to see us crumble, fight against each other, loose our focus and give up our prime possessions which is our common vision and purpose to safeguard our natural resources.
As Zimbabweans we share more than just geography, we share a history, blood, resources, values and even a future, if we choose to fight each other no one really wins at the end, in actual fact we all lose.
Why rise against each other? At what price? And whose idea is it anyway? We cannot allow external pressures to influence and determine our reaction to the challenges we face. The course of action which we will choose to take is entirely up to us and exclusively for the total good of this country and must not be influenced by anyone. Our leaders always say Zimbabwe is for Zimbabweans and so are our resources, our freedom of choice, our rights to economic empowerment and our privilege to chart the way forward that best aligns with our vision, purpose and destiny as a people.
It is given that the non allies of our great country will continue to choose a way to make our lives more difficult, unbearable, unproductive, unenjoyable and more challenging through the use of sanctions but they certainly cannot choose our reaction.
It is upon us to choose our own reaction, to choose peace, working together, promoting dialogue and mutual understanding. It is upon us the youth of this country to be braver and wiser, to choose to drive our common vision and national interest and not consider civil conflicts as an option. Youths need to be given the necessary means to capacitate themselves against any form of challenge that may come along their way. With this understanding we are set to be an example to the world that no matter the opposition we face or the amount of pressure we may be exposed to, an understanding can be arrived at.
The future and stability of this nation is in our hands, it is in the decisions we either choose to make or refuse to make, it’s in the actions we take or actions we refuse to take, it is in the words we say or words we refuse to say, it is within us and it is in our participation.
Everyone will not get everything they desire in life. This is true everywhere in the world, so yes don’t try to get that which is not yours, but don’t dare to lose that which is yours! As we jealously guard our peace and self-governance, we need to constantly remember that we are now a strong people.
We are an attractive country to the West because of our rich deposits of natural resources.
