Romantic night out at East 24

By Jonathan Mbiriyamveka
There is no better way to treat your loved ones on Valentine’s Day than to spoil them to a candlelight dinner under a full moon.
Like they say that everyone falls in love sometime and all is well and good if your husband, wife, girlfriend or boyfriend gives you love not just for a day but through out the year.
Be that as it may, Valentine’s Day serves a reminder to those who forget to love even though they need to be loved.
Next week, on February 14, although it’s a Monday, the capital city Harare is likely to be painted red, black and white as lovers show how much they believe in love.
On this day, flowers are a must for the ladies while champagne is a plus for any romantic dinner.
The razzmatazz of Valentine’s Day is already upon us as people shop around for the perfect gifts.
And for those who want to be where the action is, East 24 will be a perfect setting as the hangout will be momentarily turned into a lovers paradise.
The joint will be hosting 50 couples on Monday for a special Valentine’s Day dinner under candlelight. Already, the joint has been decorated with red and white fittings including roses.
According to Ronald “D-Train” Chiwanza of Huggie’s Entertainment who are organising the event, only 50 couples would be allowed in.
“There is going to be a three-course meal for each couple for just US$30.
“Over and above, there is going to be complimentary wines on each table plus roses for the ladies.
“After dinner, there is going to be soothing music accompanied by a prize-giving ceremony for the best dressed lady or gentleman, best male or female dancer.
“In between music, there will be a raffle courtesy of Econet who are sponsoring dongos, bundles and airtime vouchers to lucky couples.
“Unlike what we do at every other weekend, Huggie’s Entertainment will create an ambience for lovers through a selection of mellow music.
“We are also going to be taking music requests from couples,” D-Train said.
On the turntables will be Witness “Chuman” Matema, Kudzi “Mr Kool” Marudza, D-Train and Webster “Webber” Brandy.
He said the Valentine’s Day dinner was put together to thank the patrons at the joint for their continued support.
Elsewhere at Crowne Plaza Monomotapa there is going to be a Cupid’s Dinner where red carpet will be rolled out for couples.
Those who will attend will be treated to a red carpet reception, valet parking, Valentine’s cocktails and free roses for the ladies.
Apart from the buffet and live jazz music there is going to be fabulous prizes to be won.
The hotel will be offering special accommodation rates for couples on bed and breakfast basis.
